OUR CRAFT
The Process
From seed to smoke, every Flor De Castillo cigar is a testament to patience, skill, and unwavering commitment to quality.
The creation of a premium cigar is a journey measured not in days or weeks, but in years. At Flor De Castillo, we honor this tradition with a process that prioritizes quality at every stage—from the rich volcanic soils of Nicaragua to the skilled hands of our Cuban-trained torcedores.
Cultivation
Our journey begins in the volcanic soils of Estelí, Nicaragua. Here, under the watchful eyes of experienced farmers, premium tobacco seeds are planted and nurtured. The unique microclimate—consistent temperatures, ample rainfall, and mineral-rich earth—creates ideal conditions for growing tobacco with exceptional character.
- Hand-selected seeds from proven lineages
- Traditional shade-growing techniques
- Natural pest management
- Careful monitoring throughout growth cycle
Harvesting
Tobacco leaves are harvested by hand at the precise moment of optimal ripeness. Our experienced farmers assess each leaf individually, understanding that the position on the plant—from the mild volado at the bottom to the robust ligero at the top—determines its role in the final blend.
- Individual leaf assessment
- Multiple passes through each field
- Immediate transport to curing barns
- Careful handling to prevent damage
Curing & Fermentation
Freshly harvested leaves undergo a careful curing process in traditional barns, where temperature and humidity are precisely controlled. This is followed by fermentation—a natural process that reduces harshness and develops the complex flavors that distinguish premium cigars.
- Air-curing in traditional barns
- Controlled fermentation in pilones
- Regular monitoring and rotation
- Natural flavor development
Aging
Our tobacco is aged for a minimum of seven years in climate-controlled facilities in Estelí. During this extended period, the leaves continue to develop complexity, smoothness, and depth. This patience is central to the Flor De Castillo difference.
- Minimum 7 years aging
- Climate-controlled storage
- Spanish cedar aging rooms
- Regular quality assessments
Sorting & Blending
Master blenders carefully select and combine leaves from different primings and harvest years to create our signature blends. This artful balance of flavors, strength, and burning characteristics defines each cigar in our collection.
- Expert leaf classification
- Proprietary blend recipes
- Consistency across production
- Quality control at every step
Hand Rolling
Each Flor De Castillo cigar is hand-rolled by master torcedores trained in the Cuban tradition. Using techniques passed down through generations, they transform aged tobacco into works of art, ensuring perfect construction, draw, and burn.
- Long filler construction
- Traditional Cuban techniques

- Perfect draw guaranteed
